• "Cloud computing standardization" was submitted to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) - IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) Challenge 2012. This paper received first prize, and was presented in Oslo, Norway, October 5, 2012. It has been published in How does electrotechnology impact economic, social and environmental development? • "Quantifing Adaptability" was presented at ADAPTIVE 2010, The Second International Conference on Adaptive and Self-adaptive Systems and Applications, November 25, 2010 in Lisbon, Portugal, and received the Best Paper Award.


• "Exploring Adaptable Access in Next Generation Networks" was presented at the Innovations in NGN: Future Network and Services, 2008. First ITU-T Kaleidoscope Academic Conference, Geneva, Switzerland May 13, 2008 and is published in the proceedings of that conference and IEEE Xplore.


• "Teaching Standards to Engineers" was published in The International Journal of IT Standards and Standardization Research, Vol. 5 No. 2, July- December 2007.


• "The Entrepreneur and Standards" was originally submitted to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as part of the IEC Centenary Challenge 2006, organized in association with "The Economist", and in partnership with the IEEE, the IET and VDE. This paper received the joint second prize on December 14, 2006. It has been published in International Standardization as a Strategic Tool: Commended Papers from the IEC Centenary Challenge 2006, p. 143-154. • "Open Standards: a Call for Action" was an invited paper at the first ITU Kaleidoscope Conference Geneve, Switzerland May 12, 2008 and published in IEEE Communications Magazine, Vol. 47 No. 5 May, 2009. "The Meaning of Open Standards" was presented at the Standards and Standardization mini-track of the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, January 2005. "The Principles of Open Standards" was the Second Place Winner World Standards Day paper competition, 1998.


• The Mathematical Basis of Standards was presented at the Standards and Innovation in Information Technology (SIIT) 2005 in Geneva, Switzerland September 23, 2005.
  
  
• Modeling System Variation was presented at the International Conference on Informatics in Control, Automation and Robotics (ICINCO) 2005 in Barcelona, Spain September 15, 2005.


• Standards Mark the Course of Economic Progress, 2005 is a revised version of Fundamental Nature of Standards: Economic Perspective, paper presented at the International J.A. Schumpeter Society Economics Conference, June 28 - July 1, 2000, Manchester, England.


• Communications Standards and Patent Rights: Conflict or Coordination was presented at The Economics of the Software and Internet Industries conference in Toulouse, France, January, 2005. A previous version of this paper was a feature article published in STAR, 1998, publication of Telecommunciations Industry Association.
